At the beginning it included continuation of intravenous medications at home when the patient's condition has stabilized sufficiently so that no continuous medical observation and further hospitalization was not needed but there were no orally available medications or the patient was not able to receive oral medications (e.g., inability to swallow, the lack of oral formulations) or when the benefit of keeping patients in hospital (either financial or health) was lower than the potential complications. There is now sufficient literature on this issue and is an intervention that can be done safely provided that the patient's condition allows such an approach.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"itemFullText\"><p>In Greece, in addition to the reasons stated above, there are many patients who do not wish hospitalization for many different reasons, either personal or bad experience from a previous contact with the health care system. Additionally, there are patients for whom admission to hospital may be precarious, mainly because of their own medical history, but initial intravenous treatment is mandatory. Thus, for these patients, and after having assessed their health condition it has become clear that their life or the quality of their lives is not in danger, the possibility for treatment at home becomes an option.<\/p><p>Advanced medical support at home is done in collaboration with the network of SOS doctors.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div
